Introducing WORD Force Reading Adventures

WORD Force Reading Adventures is a free game-based program designed to teach children to read in a fun and adventurous way. With 15 interactive games, kids between the ages of 5-8 will become the commander of the super heroic team and explore new worlds and reading concepts. The program was developed by leading education technology company EVERFI, and is sponsored by Truist, allowing children across the nation access to reading games that improve reading skills, without financial barriers.

Learning Goals

Children will learn key literacy skills and have fun while doing so. WORD Force Reading Adventures builds phonological awareness, phonics skills, spelling words, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Children will also develop their understanding of rhyming, alphabet letter sounds, and common words.

Game Levels and Structure

The game has 15 levels with 5 sub-levels each, making a total of 75 levels in all. With familiar and silly characters, children will have fun while learning new things. They will be able to interact with the game through touch and sound and develop literacy skills in a meaningful way.

Everfi is a network of 30,000+ schools that delivers engaging digital resources to teachers, free of charge, in order to equip students with real-world skills beyond the classroom. WORD Force games and resources were developed in alignment with the standards of Common Core State for English Language Arts and State-Based English Language Arts Standards.

Science of Reading Alignment

The games and resources provide practice in the science of reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. The instructional support, developmental scope, and sequence in WORD Force Reading Adventures align with how children learn literacy skills best: through explicit and systematic instruction.
